The days of getting your vehicle's ECU reprogramming capabilities from a dealer have come to an end thanks to the internationally accepted standard SAE-J2534. This technical protocol provides for a more cost-effective device and allows anyone to access certain technical information for a particular vehicle. This technical protocol lets anyone from car enthusiast to professional auto technician to use the same services previously available only from OEM authorized dealers, with publicly available software subscription from the car manufacturer. Having this access allows for more freedom in tuning vehicles for specific road or performance conditions.
